Classical and Contemporary
Chamber Music for small ensembles
June 30 to August 2 – PLEASE NOTE: SOLD OUT/NO SPOTS AVAILABLE
Bijan Sepanji, instructor
This is a very exciting opportunity for Mooredale orchestra players who are interested in extending their performance skills through chamber music training. There will be 10 bi-weekly sessions; 5 in-person on Saturday mornings outdoors at Mooredale House, 5 via video conference plus a final performance, also outdoors. The camp is open to all our orchestra players.
Music will be selected from classical, cinema, jazz, and pop genres, depending on what the players wish to explore musically. Between rehearsals, players will work on their repertoire using Cyborg Llama, an online interface, that facilitates small group music interaction. In addition, personalized individual feedback is provided weekly (Wednesday late afternoons) by video conference.
Bijan Sepanji, our junior orchestra conductor, is a member of the Ton Beau String Quartet, and a skilled, busy educator. He also shared conducting duties with the senior orchestra during our Fall Term 2020. By now, all our orchestra players and parents know of Bijan’s superb sound and video engineering efforts in producing our last four on-line performances!
He has developed and will lead this summer chamber music program.
Students will be placed into similar skill-based groups of 3-4, learning repertoire that is both challenging and exciting. In person rehearsals will take place on Saturdays for an hour per group, starting July 3. A best time will be established based on group availability. All outdoor activities are weather-permitting, and will move indoors if permitted through prevailing health guidelines.
Students must have access to a PC or Mac or Chromebook; tablets and phones are not suitable. Must be able to access Cyborllama.info via Chrome (no download required).
